Message from Anubis on Consciousness, Spiritual Tourism and Love

Received in Giza, Cairo, Egypt, 1oth February 2017

    Who are you?

I AM Anubis.  People call me the Protector of the Underworld.

The veil between the worlds is so thin. What is above or under the world? What’s life before or after death? What moves across the world is your soul. The state of your soul is reflected in its consciousness. I assist in the transition of the soul and consciousness across dimensions.

I AM the Protector of Consciousness.

    What is consciousness?

Consciousness is an experience. What you experience is what you choose to perceive. What you perceive is what your view of the world is. Your view of the world is what you are learning.

When you call on me Anubis to protect you from evil, what does evil mean to you? You pray to seek reinforcement of your belief that you need protection.  That belief comes from your perception of good and evil. But what you are actually asking for is to confirm your desire or intention.  Your intention is for the goodness to triumph to have a smooth life or after life.  When your heart is pure in its desire, genuine and true, your prayers will be answered.  When your intentions are clear, it will manifest.

As your desires are being purified, belief systems fall away, vibrations and frequencies are raised, and intentions are manifest, your soul experiences an expansion of consciousness.

My role in your ask is to hold your vibrations, endorse your intention with honour, power and authority. I AM therefore protecting your consciousness in its expansion for you to realize your full potential.

Have you always been with us?

You are in (Egypt) the land which is multi-dimensional, where the veil is most thin. We come through the land, portals and dimensions that many are not aware or conscious of.

As humans who hold the light, do be extremely aware and conscious of who you are.

You are made up of energy fields in your physically body. Every cell and organ has its own consciousness, intention and experience individually. Yet integrated into one physical body with trillions of DNA with its own communication, senses and melding into a greater singular intention and experience.

I am here to remind you of your magnificence.  I am here to guide you, as you experience the different realms and frequencies, crossing into past and new territories and parallel time lines.  There is nothing to do, but everything to receive. Love, seek and you will find, ask and it shall be given – the raising of your consciousness or experience.  I am here to support you on your journey.

Is tourism helping spirituality this land?

There is little awareness of consciousness now from this land for this land.  Consciousness may have evolved early among the first on earth on this land, but it has gone underground.  The flowers in the dessert have huge torns.  There is beauty in the people and the land. Greed and superficial money making are the thorns that become self defence mechanism for survival.

There is no coincidence that you chance upon those who prey on spiritual seekers to make money in the name of spiritual tourism.  Allow this experience.  It is an opportunity to understand the people and to express your spiritual intentions clearly and firmly.  You will be led to places catered to tourists and full of marketplace noises. Quieten your heart. Be aware. Be perceptive. Be conscious.  Even in the noisiest market, one can find peace and enlightenment.  Listen to your intuition and act accordingly.  The guides are with you. I AM with you.

When you experience the dark, your light shines brighter and light will find you.  Another one from this land who has purity of heart and a desire in his soul, will be led to you.  Embark on the adventure with him and your light will raise his consciousness.  You will form a spiritual bond and you will both bring more spiritual experiences and awakening for those in this land and many from other lands.

    What is love to you?

Some may find love in the same dimension or not.  Just as you have experienced so much uncontrollable laughter, my love fills me over the brim with joy, pure uncontrollable joy. It is a kind of love ecstacy that we experience in our ethereal body that explodes like a timeless orgasm. The love that brings out the best qualities and gifts in the other person is most pure.  Love and compassion are part of the experience and evolution of consciousness.

    About Anubis:

Anubis is one of the most iconic god from Ancient Egypt in the earliest civilizations in the First Dynasty.

In the ancient Egyptian language, he was called Anpu or Inpu. This name has the same root as a word which means ‘a royal child.’  It is also related to the word “inp”, meaning “to decay”.

Anubis is the Greek name of the god associated with mummification and the afterlife in ancient Egyptian religion. It is usually depicted with a man with a golden jakal head. He is depicted in black, a colour that symbolized both rebirth and the discoloration of the corpse after embalming.

His parents are Nephthys and Set. Anubis’ consort is Anput (Goddess of mummification & funerals). His daughter is the serpent goddess Kebechet (deity of embalming liquid or cooling water).

  • Being Authentic. I am who I am

A well meaning head hunter called me “Hey, did you leave IBM? Why didn’t you tell me so I can place you?” “No, I have not left. I will definitely tell you if I am looking out. Do you know something I don’t?” I laughingly replied. He replied, “Your LinkedIn job title to “Mindful Ledaership” so I thought you quit.”  That was just one reaction, among many connections that reacted to my profile change in surprise, happiness, curiosity, cautiousness and even disapproval.

What garnered these responses was just a change in my profile to “Mindful Leadership”. I had decided to integrate my career self and my spiritual self into one.  I had previously kept two separate identities – one professional identity as “Anne Phey – Innovator” as a kick-ass Marketing Director at IBM and another identity “Anne Phey – Mindful Meditator” that I shared about my journey of self discovery in holistic practices.

These are the Top 5 reactions and my response:

    1.  “Won’t your boss think you are spending time to blog about non-work stuff and affect your career?”

I am grateful that IBM practices work life integration and I have understanding bosses.  We recognize that team members need a healthy balance of work and private time.  While many employees may spend their week nights or weekends with their parents or children, I choose to spend my time on holistic practices and sharing them on social media.  The employee is evaluated on the results, and not how they spend their time.  So, sharing about mindfulness does not make me any less effective as an employee.

    2. “You are a social advocate, why a title on mindfulness and not IBM?”

As LinkedIn’s top Social Seller, I am an advocate of social media as a medium for corporates to reach out to partners and customers.  Being an advocate does not mean talking only about one’s company all the time. Often social media becomes a bombardment of corporate jargon. People trust people.  We earn that trust by being genuine and having an opinion. I am an IBM ambassador, not one that blindly drum-beats corporate messages, but a human that one can relate to and have a conversation with.  I can share both about mindfulness and corporate content.

    3. “Don’t you think it is unprofessional to share about mindfulness on corporate platforms?”

Mindfulness is an attitude, an approach and a holistic practice.  It is not contrary to corporate work. In fact, it adds to a better person, environment and work outcomes.  In the tech industry, disruptions are changing the way industries and customers are behaving.  If one practices mindfulness, one can navigate these disruptions with ease.

Personally, I have gained from mindfulness with calmness in my approach, better clarity by being able to observe alternative perspectives on situations, confidence in handling obstacles, positive encouragement to team members, motivation to do good and tenacity to outlast the issues.

Our Human Resource Director Craig Stewart too writes about mindfulness in his blogs. (See more at

    4. “Recruiters can’t categorize you if you put mindfulness into your job title.”

Human Resource as a function no longer relies on job titles and abilities on CVs but about how a person’s intrinsic qualities such as mindfulness and leadership can take the role and job scope to success.

Here is an example of incorporating mindfulness into your profile. Techfucius is a CIO (Chief Information Officer) who is a seeker of salvation from IT woes.  Instead of seeking salvation atop a mountain somewhere, he has to practice mindfulness with deep reflection within to manage a tech world riddled with disruption and uncertainty. His blogs talk about the power of strengthening what lies within (See more at

    5. “Have you quit your job to go full time into holistic work?”

Changing my job title to “Mindful Leader” gave many the impression that I am no longer working in the corporate world.  Most people believe that you have to either be a corporate warrior or a peaceful holistic practitioner.  I choose to be both.  I love my job at IBM and I love what I do to help individuals transform their lives. And I love showing by example to transform my life to a better person, boss and team mate at my workplace.

Corporate and Mindfulness Merge As One

We sometimes draw such well defined lines around areas of our lives – our work, our home, our children, our recreation club and our spiritual practices.  As I discover more about myself, I become more of who I truly am at home and at work. There is just one me, I am who I am.

In fact, several social advocates have contacted me to ask how I managed to integrate mindfulness, corporate and social media.  Many have asked for further discussions and tips as they see social media and social selling cross the chasm of regurgitating corporate jargon to sharing from the heart of what matters to the person be it personal, professional or corporate development.

So here I am, on this path of integration. I will be blogging about mindfulness on how it has helped become better persons in the corporate world, and also about the tech industry with mindfulness.

If you want to know the secret of my success in the worlds of corporate and holistic practices, come join me in a meditation or on a one-on-one consultation. I will share with infinite love so that you too can discover your personal potential and embark on this beautiful journey of self discovery.

Join me, be bold and shine as who you are. Be authentic.

  • Shift mindset with Aroma Freedom Technique and Sound Astrometry Therapy

    Happiness is living our purpose

To be happy you need to live a life of purpose. Happiness is not a goal in and of itself; it is a side-effect of doing what you are meant to do in this life. It involves giving your talents and abilities to a cause or a purpose that takes you beyond yourself. People who are living a purpose-filled life are not bothered by all the little things that can go wrong in a day – they are too focused on their mission to worry about such things.

The trouble is, most people have become disconnected from their dreams because, in the process of adjusting to life, they have lost themselves or they have lost their belief that they could reach their dreams.

Limiting beliefs, attitudes and memories in the sub-conscious

The restrictions we feel in life are a result of limiting beliefs, attitudes and memories that we have developed in the process of growing. You will see how traumatic events can cloud our ability to approach life in an open way. Even mildly upsetting events can shape our future attitudes significantly.

Unpleasant or disturbing memories may be temporarily lost to your conscious mind, but they are permanently etched into your subconscious and cellular memory. Traumatic experience recorded within our consciousness, exist as living, buried memories. When unresolved, they can create obstacles to your life’s happiness, judgement and success in many areas – domestic, personal, social and career-wise.

Our limbic and emotional brain can be re-wired

David Steward PhD (Author of Healing Oils of the Bible and 16 other books) says that it is a well-established fact that, when inhaled, essential oils directly enter our limbic system, our emotional brain, where traumatic and upsetting experiences of your life are noted and catalogued into your body’s memory.

We can use our sense of smell, your most primitive and emotionally potent sense, to re-wire your brain in the direction of alignment with your dreams.

Aroma, especially that of a pure essential oil, has the power to soften the emotionally charged memories and modify our resulting attitudes.

Ready to gain clarity of your mindset and shift your attitude and emotions towards your goals? We can use Therapeutic Essential Oils, Aroma Freedom Technique and Sound Therapy to create a breakthrough.

We can learn how to gain clarity of your mindset and shift your attitude and emotions towards your goals. Sound AstrometryTM activates Theta brain waves to harmonize  body, mind and emotions.

Sound AstrometryTM is a signature program by Certified Meta-physical Aromatherapist Anne Phey that takes one on a planetary sound journey to discover more of one’s multi-dimensional self.  The sound vibrations moves one to deep Theta brain wave frequencies that induce deep meditative and peaceful states, clarity of mind and intuition. The sound frequency impacts the sympathetic nervous system, engages the relaxation reflex, slows down the respiratory, brain and heart rate, and disrupts the pain reflex creating a deep sense of well being.  It harmonizes the cells, balance the body’s energy system.

“I have been doing affirmations & spiritual work for over 25 years. I have accomplished a lot of what I wanted in life but I was feeling stuck. During the AFT session with Dr. Perkus he identified key areas that were keeping me stuck in the past. I had to release some old baggage & guilt . I was able to acknowledge and change how I was sabotaging my journey into wellness. Afterwards I felt so much lighter & free. Now, several weeks later, I am feeling better than ever. Amazing!“  S.G., Ithaca, NY

“After the AFT session i felt completely relaxed and I felt a heavy burden was lifted from me. During the session everything was in a nice flow and it felt good. The clearing went quite fast unlike other session were i sometimes got stuck. I will now diligently do my affirmation!  Annette H. (Claudia Hofmaier’s client)

“I received Sound AstrometryTM healing session in my frayed state of late. The experience was very therapeutic, intriguing and liberating. It helped me to find my own inner healing and peace.” Eileen C., Singapore

“Anne is a gifted healer and wonderful channeler of love and light. She works at different dimensional levels with  sacred song and light language. Her ability to connect with people is wonderful! I highly recommend Anne for all dimensional healing.” Tracy Maunder, UK.

    Testimonial from multiple AFT Sessions

I can remember the first session so vividly and how much it woke me up.

It was like a slap in the face that this is what I needed personally to not only be successful in my career but to also grow as a person. I was going through a messy break-up and my mind was reeling from being so utterly lost about who I am. My intention was to be open to love wherever it comes from and I remember the rating being at about 3. When I asked myself why, I felt like I just cannot be loved. It made me feel sad and I felt my chest tightening up.

Then a surge of images came to me from the past where I was abandoned after everything I gave to that person. I felt worthless and unloved like I was incapable of love because I wasn’t enough. At that point during our first AFT session i wanted to cry but I smelled the Essential Oil Blend and just like that all my doubts about myself felt lighter and calmer. The new belief started coming in straight away and from there my affirmation was created which I’ve been doing religiously for almost a month and just like that I didn’t feel the need to do it daily anymore. On top of that, whenever the need for new AFT sessions on myself come up, the new belief came in right after I inhaled the Essential Oil Blend. Even when I was having a hard time pin-pointing to a specific memory.

For instance, once I had a hard time selecting a memory because there was a fleeting of images that came to me but I decided to move on and inhale the Essential Oil Blend anyways, and all of a sudden everything made sense. I did another round of it after and it all clicked.

I’m already feeling like I’ve progressed personally from that first session and now I’m currently working on my progression. So much to look forward to!

  • Activate Your Intuition To Discover Your Potential.

Intuition is challenging to define, despite the huge role it plays in our everyday lives. Steve Job says that “intuition is more powerful than intellect.”

It is that gut feeling or an inner voice. – that unconscious reasoning that propels one to do something without saying why or how. It is a “knowing without knowing”.  It is “knowing without thinking”. The nature of intuition has led to much scientific research, including philosophy and psychology fields to understand what it is.

Often dismissed as paranormal or the “woo-woo” stuff that women do, cognitive science is beginning to demystify the strong but sometimes inexplicable presence of unconscious reasoning in our lives and thoughts.  “There is a growing body of anecdotal evidence, combined with solid research efforts, that suggests intuition is a critical aspect of how we humans interact with our environment and how, ultimately, we make many of our decisions,” Ivy Estabrooke, a program manager at the Office of Naval Research in an interview with the New York Times in 2012.

Our intuition is always there, from reading a situation, knowing what to say, making a decision and even knowing where to drive to.  However, we may not always be paying attention to it.  Our lives may be so dominated by our logical brain that we dismiss any signs of it.

If we can tap into this resource of wisdom, we can greatly improve our lives.

Henry Poincare said “It is through science that we prove. But through intuition that we discover”. An ancient Native American proverb goes like this “We can only give ourselves the power to be”.

To realize your full potential, why not tap into the healing power of our intuition.  Gather your friends for a fun interactive workshop where you can learn about and activate our intuitive capabilities, or sign up for a one-on-one tuning of your intuitive and tap into your psychic potential.

We will cover what are the different intuitive abilities, how to recognize if you have them, how to set intentions and manifestation, how to awaken the hidden talents, practice connecting with our inner self and practice simple energy healing work. We will share practical ways to awaken our inner self to uncover gifts, connect with the universe and send healing to mother earth.

Gain self confidence, improve ability to learn, achieve balance in life by tapping into our intuitive self. Learn how to activate your intuition and talents, such as sight, hearing, taste, smell, feel, touch and speak.  How do you recognize your true voice to make decisions.

As a channeler gifted in light language and with all six intuitive senses opened for psychic practice, Anne Phey will guide you through specific practical ways to start experiencing or to help you expand them if you have started. She brings her Pleidian heritage and remembrance of past mastery to aid us in the path of awakening.

It does not matter what level you are at. Just come with an open mind.

  • Sound Heals By Tuning Your Body

What Produces the Healing Power of Sound?

We can feel it when we turn on the radio and our favorite song happens to be playing, or when we sit quietly and listen to the rain. There is a palpable peace when we are absorbed in quiet and a different kind of rejuvenation when we hear the wind in the trees. There is no doubt that sound has subtle, but profound effects on our body, minds and spirits. How exactly does sound work, though, to heal us?

Just Like an Orchestra, You Can Tune Your Body

Have you ever listened to an orchestra prepare to play an invigorating symphony? There is a cacophony first with the woodwinds and strings, horns, and timpani making quite a ruckus, but when they tune their instruments precisely, the sound that washes over you like a wave, can bring peace and excitement that surpasses some of the most invigorating practices on earth – like sky diving, or dropping 45 feet into a hidden cave.

The body works in much the same way. If a single instrument (organ, or organ system) is playing its own tune, and not in harmony with the rest of the body, disease is more likely to happen. As sound therapist, Dr. John Beaulieu, ND, PhD explains:

The fundamental principle of Energy Medicine is that an underlying energy field generates physical, emotional, and mental behaviors or symptoms. If we change the energy field, the physical, emotional, and mental behaviors will also change.

One of the most effective ways to change the energy field is through a science named cymatics. Though he was not the first to discover that sound could heal, Dr. Hans Jenny, M.D. of Basel Switzerland put together some fascinating experiments where we could literally ‘see’ how sound works.
Jenny created ‘cymatics’ when he put sand, fluid or some other powder on a metal plate that was attached to an oscillator. An oscillator is essentially a vibrator, but his oscillator was controlled by a generator that was able to produce many thousands of types of frequencies. Some of these can be found in nature, and others are created by man.

    Cymatics pattern
Powder on a metal plate, attached to an oscillator

By changing the frequencies on the oscillator, Jenny found that sand, or water or whatever substance he was using to create a visible medium for his sound, would morph into some very interesting shapes. These shapes mimicked the properties of divine geometry, and the higher the frequency, the more complex the shapes would appear to be. He wrote:

Since the various aspects of these phenomena are due to vibration, we are confronted with a spectrum which reveals a patterned, figurative formation at one pole and kinetic-dynamic processes at the other, the whole being generated and sustained by its essential periodicity.

What Jenny was observing was really a simple way of observing matter come to life. Since we now understand, through the emerging field of quantum physics, that patterns emerge via waves of energy, the plates were showing the scientist a similar phenomenon. In ancient Sumerian society, this was a known fact. This is why practices like mantra were held in high esteem. The seed syllable, OM, for example, causes a certain frequency to imprint upon the ‘matter’ around it, and thus changes the energetic field.

Monastery of Christ In The Desert
Abbot Philip Lawrence from Monastery of Christ In The Desert

“The kind of singing that we do calms the spirit and helps us live in peace with our world and with one another,” says Abbot Philip Lawrence, a scholar of chant who also leads the Monastery of Christ In The Desert – home to an American order of Benedictine monks from Abiquiu, New Mexico. “Chanting has some strange effect on the brain waves according to various studies,” continues Abbot Philip, but this effect is certainly not the Monks of the Desert’s objective; rather their goal, and that of Gregorian chant, notes Abbot Philip, is “to focus on the words rather than the challenge of voice production or sight reading. It is always our hope that our singing will bring others to peace, inner tranquility and an appreciation of beauty. These values can help create a world in which peace and tranquility prevail.”

Since all matter is just different frequencies of the collapsed wave, or quantum field, then we have the ability to create a different reality with sound.

    Sound and the Golden Number

The possibility for great healing can be seen in the science of sound. The picture of the Sri Yantra, a mandala created by sound, and said to be imagined by a yogi in deep meditation, is a representation of one of the oldest sounds in the world. Some call it a manifestation of divine sound. The triangles that appear in the Sri Yantra are perfectly integrated based on the divine number, Pi, which is also the basis for the golden mean, Phi. The Greek philosopher, Pythagorus understood sound and divein geometry, and it was written about by Euclid in “Elements” around 300 B.C., by Luca Pacioli, a contemporary of Leonardo Da Vinci, in “De Divina Proportione” in 1509, by Johannes Kepler around 1600. Many others knew of this ‘cosmic’ mathematics, and its power to heal throughout the ages.

    Sound healing with singing bowls
The harmonics of sound work to create order out of chaos

The harmonics of sound work to create order out of chaos. Disease, you might say, is a form of chaos in the body. According to Dr. Robert Friedman, the connection between the Golden Ratio and ideal health was a no-brainer. During his medial residency in the 1980s, Dr. Friedman began observing the Golden Ratio throughout the human body—on the anatomical, physiological, and molecular levels. “The deeper I looked,” said Friedman, “the more deeply I discovered this incredible and ubiquitous Code to be embedded throughout the structure and function of the body…it only followed that the more one could harmonize with this grand principle, the more efficient and effortless life could be.”

    Healing Frequencies

    What is illness?

Emotional issues that are unresolved block the healing vibrations or cause the disease state to return.
    – R Gordon

Over millennia, those who have studied the science of sound, have come to understand that certain frequencies are very healing for the human body. Overall, however, you are trying to create resonance – “When two systems are oscillating at different frequencies, there is an impelling force called resonance that causes the two to transfer energy from one to another. When two similarly tuned systems vibrate at different frequencies, there is another aspect of this energy transfer called entrainment, which causes them to line up and to vibrate at the same frequency.” (Richard Gordon)

Certain frequencies are very healing for the human body

When we ‘entrain’ with healing frequencies, our bodies and minds vibrate in harmony. These include:

    • 285 Hz – Signals cells and tissues to heal. Leaves the body feeling rejuvenated.
    • 396 Hz – Liberates guilt and fear to make way for higher vibrating emotions.
    • 417 Hz – Allows the ‘undoing’ of challenging situations.
    • 528 Hz – Said to heal DNA, repair cells, and awaken consciousness
    • 639 Hz – This is the vibration associated to the heart. It allows feelings of love for self and ‘other’ until there is no longer a distinction. To balance relationships, listen to this frequency.
    • 741 Hz – Said to clean the cells and heal them from exposure to electromagnetic radiation. Helps shift someone into empowerment so they can create the reality they wish to see.
    • 852 Hz – Awakens intuition.
    • 963 Hz – Activates the pineal gland, and aligns the body to its perfect, original state. Of course, there are further frequencies, many of which that are not even within the human range of hearing, but they are healing nonetheless. George Lakhovsky, a Russian engineer understood the power of sound as well. He understood that certain frequencies would make a living being grow stronger. I hope you are able to find healing in the frequencies I’ve described, and that this introduction to why sound heals will spur you to learn more.

At the root of all power and motion, there is music and rhythm, the play of patterned frequencies against the matrix of time. We know that every particle in the physical universe takes its characteristics from the pitch and pattern and overtones of its particular frequencies, its singing. Before we make music, music makes us.

  • The Real Hula Dance of Hawaiian Men

“Hula is the art of Hawaiian dance, expressing everything we see, hear, smell, taste, touch and feel. That’s what Hula is to me, and to anyone I have trained.” Robert Cazimero, Master Teacher of Halau Na Kamalei.
Thanks to Hollywood movies and tourist programs and souvenirs, we imagine only Hawiian women dancing gracefully to soft lullaby music as what Hula Dance is all about.
In fact, the Hula dance is a sacred dance with many traditions. There are also men who dance when they learn martial arts. Due to the military ban on dance, some of these dance forms have survived underground and have come out since the 1970s. Today, they dance with masculine pride and grace.
Here is a mighty example of a powerful Hawiian fertility dance by super male bods with great strength and grace!

  • Harvard: Meditation rebuilds gray matter in 8 weeks

Harvard Unveils MRI Study which shows meditation rebuild gray matter in 8 weeks!

Test subjects taking part in an 8-week program of mindfulness meditation showed results that astonished even the most experienced neuroscientists at Harvard University.  The study was led by a Harvard-affiliated team of researchers based at Massachusetts General Hospital, and the team’s MRI scans documented for the very first time in medical history how meditation produced massive changes inside the brain’s gray matter.  “Although the practice of meditation is associated with a sense of peacefulness and physical relaxation, practitioners have long claimed that meditation also provides cognitive and psychological benefits that persist throughout the day,” says study senior author Sara Lazar of the MGH Psychiatric Neuroimaging Research Program and a Harvard Medical School instructor in psychology. “This study demonstrates that changes in brain structure may underlie some of these reported improvements and that people are not just feeling better because they are spending time relaxing.”

Sue McGreevey of MGH writes: “Previous studies from Lazar’s group and others found structural differences between the brains of experienced meditation practitioners and individuals with no history of meditation, observing thickening of the cerebral cortex in areas associated with attention and emotional integration. But those investigations could not document that those differences were actually produced by meditation.”  Until now, that is.  The participants spent an average of 27 minutes per day practicing mindfulness exercises, and this is all it took to stimulate a major increase in gray matter density in the hippocampus, the part of the brain associated with self-awareness, compassion, and introspection.  McGreevey adds: “Participant-reported reductions in stress also were correlated with decreased gray-matter density in the amygdala, which is known to play an important role in anxiety and stress. None of these changes were seen in the control group, indicating that they had not resulted merely from the passage of time.”

“It is fascinating to see the brain’s plasticity and that, by practicing meditation, we can play an active role in changing the brain and can increase our well-being and quality of life,” says Britta Hölzel, first author of the paper and a research fellow at MGH and Giessen University in Germany.

Ash Wednesday: From dust we came, to dust we will return, now redeemed by love.

On Ash Wednesday, the priest or minister places marks the foreheads of believers with black ashes in the sign of the cross which the worshipper retains until it wears off. It acts as a reminder of human mortality, and as a sign of repentance to God. The ashes used are gathered from the burning of the palms from previous year’s Palm Sunday.
