About Dechen:

Dechen is a well-known Swiss-Tibetan Mantra Singer. Her debut album ”Dewa Che, Universal Healing Power of Tibetan Mantras” was released in 1999 and has won the “Best Spiritual Music Award” in the U.S. It is widely used by people wishing to develop inner peace and calm. She is the eldest daughter of Dagsay Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama from whom she received the transmissions of the holy mantras that she is singing for a worldwide audience.

Many more albums followed and she was the Buddhist Voice on the “Beyond” project. For the last two albums “Jewel” and “Day Tomorrow”, she collaborated with Swiss producer and composer Helge van Dyk. Together with the Jewel Ensemble she successfully performed internationally including two performances at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Details of Mantra In Song:

Dechen will lead you to enter into the world of ancient Buddhist Mantra. She will share the powerful effect of mantras when practicing them and how you can benefit from them in our daily lives. She will introduce us to a beautiful collection of her mantras and will encourage you to sing them along with her. The main forcus will not be on how perfectly well you sing, but how you can connect with your beautiful inner self through the chanting of these holy syllables.

The word “Mantra” comes from Sankrit which means, “That which protects the mind from negative energies.” Mantra not only protects from negative energies but also develops the positive strength within us to overcome obstacles and to lead a compassionate and peaceful life. That, accordingly to the Tibetan philosophy, is the key to a healthy and long life.

Details of Jewel Dance:

The sound of her music inspired Dechen to create the 7 Step combinations of the Jewel Dance which she developed from the traditional Tibetan Circle Dance movements. As a young girl, Dechen loved to dance the traditional dances with her mother and she feels happy to promote and preserve a beautiful aspect of the Tibetan Culture through dance.

It is a dance with spiritual elements and can be practiced as a meditative dance to open your hearts and to find your inner joy and peace. She has given each one of the Tibetan name of the weekly days to remind us that we can make every day a “Jewel” day, full of joy and happiness for oneself and others. The steps and movements are easy to learn.
